Future CFO on next step: ‘an actual dream come true’

Senior Jonathan Mubake admits he loves a challenge, which is why he enjoys trying new things. During a tour of Kent Career Tech Center his sophomore year he thought welding looked interesting and decided to sign up.

Kayla Howell wants to be the person answering the phone when the 911 call comes in, prepared and ready to assist, whatever the situation.

Andrew Barnum began learning to play guitar when he was in eighth grade. But the first guitar he owned was not the greatest quality, and he dreamed of playing something better.

“So I decided to build my own.”

Theater is everything for Katherine Wendling, an East Grand Rapids Middle School seventh-grader. Her interest in acting was ignited during her time at Wealthy Elementary, taking on roles in productions led by the school’s musical director. Katherine is now spending her afternoons back at Wealthy, volunteering to assist with the upcoming production of “Finding Nemo Jr.” 

On paper, Christian and Xander Helenius are twins who both attend the Northview Next Career Center and are set to graduate next spring. To meet them in person, you might wonder if the brothers are even related.
