Visually Impaired Services

We offer training and support for educators, including consultants to address a student's needs, a lending library of hardware, software and other tools, and a network of resources in all areas of resources for students with visual impairments.

It is the mission of the Kent ISD Visually Impaired staff to expand the knowledge and use of adaptive instruction and assistive technology (AT) within the local districts so all students can learn in a manner which best meets their needs and abilities. Our purpose is to collaborate on teaching and learning, build district capacity and local staff skills, and address students' needs in a timely and cost effective manner.

Who We Are

A team including ten Teacher Consultants for the Visually Impaired, three Orientation & Mobility Specialists and a Coordinator for Instructional Services from Kent ISD who work with instructional teams from all local area districts.

Who We Serve

Special Education students with visual impairments in local districts throughout Kent ISD, who require adaptive instructional methods and materials to achieve their educational goals.
