Building a better education experience for students requires opportunities for them to share their thoughts and ideas. The Student Leadership Community provides a forum for students across Kent ISD to provide their input. We believe cultivating and listening to students’ voices is essential. Through this community, students participate in leadership development, advocacy, community service, event participation and networking.

Joel Perez hasn’t had a typical high school experience until now. As he navigates advanced placement classes, football practice and his role as a student leader, he’s focusing on a future in front of the classroom.
Faith Aversano speaks quietly in soft tones, but that gentle manner belies her strength and ability to lead. Administrators nominated Aversano as the WOODTV 8 student of the week for the kind of leadership that earned her a spot at Kent ISD's Listen Learn Lead event.
This week, Kent ISD hosted the initial Listen. Learn. Lead. State of the Student event, a follow up discussion today with Kent ISD Assistant Superintendent of Legislative and Organizational Initiatives Chris Glass, and Student Leadership Community members Karl Kepler and Jasmine Honicutt.
Listen. Learn. Lead - State of the Student returns on Monday, October 30. Nearly 300 community members are expected and selected students will share their experiences from their schools and communities. All students who attend will have the opportunity to network with community partners and leaders.
The event will take place at the Grand Valley State University Eberhard Center on Oct. 30, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
