Adult Education
Pathways to success
We help adults build brighter futures by helping them get their high school equivalency (GED), gain skills in the English language, and through Career and Technical Education (CTE). The Kent ISD Adult Education Program has two main locations where every student can reach their goals. Morning, afternoon and evening sessions are offered to meet the needs of students and their work and family schedules. Teachers provide interactive lessons in class as well as field trips to local libraries, the Rapid Bus system and community organizations for real-life experiences. Adult education can also include career readiness, professional advancement, specific training for skills and careers, citizenship and family literacy.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
We help adults learn English when it is not their native language. ESL helps students work on communication skills needed for work, at home and in day to day activities. This program is for beginning through advanced students who want to improve their English language skills.
High School Equivalency (GED)
The General Education Development (GED) program helps adult students earn their high school equivalency certificate. Teachers help students age 18 or older prepare for the GED test in four subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. Students learn from teachers in class and online with computer programs.
Adult Basic Education (Pre-GED)
In Adult Basic Education classes, students work on basic literacy and math skills to help them prepare for the GED program. The Pre-GED class also helps students become better prepared for employment.
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Pair your GED with technical skills and certifications employers are looking for! In our CTE courses, you’ll get hands on as you learn specialty skills and knowledge in career fields like welding, phlebotomy, IT and others. Work with cutting-edge equipment and learn from certified instructors and industry experts as you work toward technical certifications (Students must be enrolled in our GED program to be eligible for CTE courses).
