Early Childhood Special Education Support
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Support
The Kent ISD ECSE team provides comprehensive support designed to strengthen local district capacity and ensure sustainable, compliant practices that serve staff, students and families. Grounded in a systems-level approach, we partner with districts to foster long-term effectiveness, consistency, and alignment in delivering high-quality early childhood special education services.
Partnership Opportunities
Professional Development: Customized training opportunities for administrators and staff that focus on best practices in early childhood special education, compliance with state and federal requirements, and strategies for inclusive, high-quality early childhood education.
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) & Communities of Practice (CoPs): Ongoing opportunities for special educators to collaborate, share expertise, and problem-solve current challenges in ECSE.
- Individualized Consulting: Direct support from the ISD ECSE team to address unique district needs, including program design, service delivery models, data collection, and compliance planning.
Supporting Families and Removing Barriers
We serve as a liaison to help families understand and access ECSE services for their child. In alignment with Child Find obligations, we work collaboratively with families and districts to reduce barriers to participation, ensuring every student with a disability has meaningful access to early learning opportunities.
Alignment Across Early Childhood Systems
Kent ISD ECSE support is closely integrated with other early childhood programs and initiatives, including Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), Early On, and Early Childhood Multi-Tiered System of Supports (EC-MTSS). Our work also aligns with K-12 Special Education supports & services to create a more coherent, inclusive and effective system of supports for young children and their families.
Through these partnerships, the Kent ISD ECSE team helps districts to ensure practices not only meet compliance standards but also promote meaningful outcomes for young children with disabilities.
