Suicide Prevention and Risk Management

Schools maximize academic success by ensuring student safety through comprehensive suicide prevention and risk management. Organized under the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, this work spans from universal prevention—like staff training, student curriculum, and screenings—to direct intervention, including immediate risk assessments, parent notifications, safety planning, and crisis response. By structuring care this way, schools establish a seamless safety net that connects vulnerable individuals to ongoing community resources and mitigates post-crisis risks like contagion.
