Kent County Cup Spring 2026 Super Smash Bros. Tournament - Saturday, March 21

Registration is now open for the Spring Edition of the Kent County Cup. Sign up now to be guaranteed a spot in this growing event.

This is our third year of presenting this Super Smash Bros. Tournament at Kent Career Tech Center. High school students in the Kent ISD district, including homeschooled and private school students are invited to attend and compete.

The tournament will run the standard 2023 Unified Stage List and all characters, including DLC will be available for competition. (Steve is NOT banned). Players need to bring their own controllers and we highly recommend officially licensed Nintendo controllers.

There is a $5 fee, which will be collected at the door for participants (cash or credit). Concessions will be available.

Doors open at 9 a.m. with an opening session at 9:30. Play begins at 9:45, with a lunch break at 11:30. The awards ceremony is expected to be at about 2:30 p.m.

The Kent County Cup was created by the Kent ISD Workforce Development Program as an outlet for students to learn about how esports and gaming can lead to highly sought-after high-tech careers.

Mario Kart Winners!

The fall Kent County Cup crowned a new champion. Mason Abbott, a 9th-grader who is homeschooled, won the Mario Kart 8 tournament on Oct. 18 at the Kent Career Tech Center. 40 high school students entered the competition.

Esports are a great way for students to get in touch with their technical skills and to learn communication and leadership skills that employers are looking for. To help highlight the benefits of esports, Kent ISD Workforce Development has created the Kent County Cup, an opportunity for area high school students to learn about career paths where their skills may benefit and to have a fun day of competition. Parents and employers are invited to learn about the esports boom.
