East Grand Rapids Public Schools
Strong Schools, Strong Communities
East Grand Rapids Public Schools is located in the heart of a small neighborhood community in West Michigan. A preschool, three elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school provide approximately 3,000 students with rigorous academic programs, excellent opportunities in the arts, and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that meet the academic and developmental needs of each child. Our district stands out as a model of public school success, and we have received many local, state, and national accolades, honors, and awards in our long history. At East, our motto of "A Tradition of Excellence" is a commitment, a challenge, and an expectation.
District Mission
Educating and inspiring each student to navigate successfully in a global community
Career Learning
We help students consider and connect with possible careers, build the skills expected in the workplace and learn about options after graduation, including attending college, pursuing technical training, or going directly into the workforce. Students are provided real-world opportunities that extend beyond the classroom, connecting them with local organizations and helping them gain experiences that will serve them long after high school
Academics and Beyond
Strong academics are the basis for all of K-12 learning, beginning with literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition to these areas, we engage students with a wide range of learning experiences and courses, including art, music, drama, physical education, world languages, business, and technology. The district’s high school International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme was implemented in the Fall of 2016 as another learning opportunity. After school opportunities range from athletics, music, drama, to robotics, We The People, Quiz Bowl, Model United Nations, and Science Olympiad.
Support for Students
We work hard to support students so they succeed academically, socially, and emotionally during their K-12 learning journey. We believe in the development of the whole child and support all students through services and a multi-tiered system of support that begins with high-quality curriculum and instruction and appropriate interventions.
Early Childhood
Early childhood is a crucial time in children’s lives, a time when they engage in the world around them and start to build the foundation of the basics they will use in school and beyond. At Woodcliff Early Childhood Center (WECC), we believe in nurturing young minds through creativity, curiosity, and exploration. During the school year, WECC offers preschool programs and before- and after-school child care for EGRPS students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Camp East is our district's summer child care program. Both programs allow students to engage in arts and crafts projects, games, story time, opportunities for small and large muscle movement, and outdoor play.
