Caledonia Community Schools

Strong Schools, Strong Communities

Caledonia Community Schools are caring places where personalized learning is at the heart of everything we do. Our dedicated staff encourages each student to take an active role in their education. Teachers engage in ongoing professional development focused on best practices and creating meaningful learning experiences for every child.

We are committed to educating the whole person. Our goal is to graduate students who demonstrate high levels of achievement, who think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively.

Caledonia students experience a wide range of classroom opportunities and learn beyond the classroom walls through field trips, community service, mentorships, and internships. These real-world experiences connect learning to life and prepare students to become engaged, contributing members of a dynamic and diverse global community.

District Mission & Vision

In pursuit of excellence, Caledonia Community Schools will empower and equip all persons to achieve their best by ensuring the highest quality system for learning. Guided by our Strategic Plan, we are cultivating three cultures — Culture of Educational Excellence, Culture of Connections and Community, and a Culture of Stewardship & Sustainability — that ensure every student thrives.

Career Learning

We help students explore career interests, build workplace-ready skills, and prepare for life after graduation—whether that means college, technical training, or entering the workforce. Students gain real-world experience through engineering and technical courses, along with partnerships that connect them directly to local industries.

Caledonia High School is proud to be one of 49 high schools in Michigan selected to join the SME PRIME® (Society of Mechanical Engineers Partnership Response In Manufacturing Education) program through a public-private partnership with the SME Education Foundation and the State of Michigan. This program brings industry-aligned manufacturing and engineering opportunities directly to our students, connecting classroom learning with hands-on experiences that reflect real-world needs. At Duncan Lake Middle School, MEERA (Manufacturing and Engineering Education Reimagined for All) introduces students to these sameconcepts early on, helping them explore engineering, design, and problem-solving through engaging, hands-on activities that build excitement for future STEM opportunities.

Academics and Beyond

Strong academics are the basis for all of K-12 learning, beginning with literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition to these areas, we engage students with a wide range of courses, including Advanced Placement classes, CTE, Foreign Language (German and Spanish), online courses, engineering, fine arts, business courses, and after-school opportunities ranging from athletics and fine arts to robotics and Future Farmers of America.

Early Childhood

At Duncan Lake Early Childhood Center (DLECC), we believe every child deserves a joyful start to their educational journey. Our preschool programs provide a warm, caring environment where young learners can explore, grow, and thrive. With both free and tuition-based options available, we are committed to meeting the diverse needs of children and families in our community.

Our classrooms are built around a play-based curriculum that encourages hands-on learning, promotes curiosity, and supports each child’s unique developmental path. We focus on building essential social-emotional skills, school readiness, and foundational academics through consistent routines and positive interactions. At DLECC, children develop the confidence and skills needed for a successful transition into kindergarten and beyond.

Support for Students

Caledonia utilizes a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) as a comprehensive framework to improve academic, behavior, and social-emotional outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities. MTSS is an effective framework to differentiate research-informed supports matched to student needs.

The Michigan Department of Education defines an MTSS as a comprehensive framework consisting of a collection of research-based strategies designed to meet the individual needs and assets of the whole child. MTSS intentionally interconnects the education, health, and human service systems in support of successful learners, schools, centers, and community outcomes.

The foundation of MTSS is ongoing collaboration. Teams of educators, with a variety of expertise, work together to engage in shared problem-solving around students who do not respond to the core level of high-quality instruction found in our classrooms.

Our MTSS and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) frameworks reflect our commitment to nurturing the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally, ensuring that every student has access to the resources needed to succeed.

Fund Allocation

This funding has supported our district since 2017 by helping with class-size reduction through additional staffing, purchasing textbooks and other curriculum materials, funding software licensing, and providing professional development opportunities for staff.
