Mental Health & Behavior

We champion student social, emotional and behavioral health to promote mental health, wellbeing, and resilience across Kent ISD.  We provide consultation and professional learning to help districts cultivate safe, positive, and inclusive school environments.

General Information

Social-Emotional-Behavioral Health (SEBH) is an integrated approach within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. It promotes overall student wellbeing and resilience by aligning social-emotional skills, behavioral supports, and mental health practices into one cohesive system. To ensure all students receive the specific level of care they need, schools utilize the PBIS+ model, which integrates three essential pillars across the tiers:

  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Explicitly teaching skills like self-regulation and relationship building.
  • Behavioral Interventions: Providing structured supports to encourage positive school climates.
  • Comprehensive Mental Health: Offering proactive and responsive services to support psychological wellness.
