Career Readiness

The more exposure students have to future career opportunities and the world of work, the more likely they are to choose a career that’s right for them – where they’ll be happy and successful. It’s our job to help students get that exposure.

That’s why we work directly with students in grades 7-12 to provide career exploration opportunities like job shadows and industry tours to help them learn about in demand careers. It’s also why we partner with teachers in grades K-12 to help them bring career exploration into the classroom through lesson plans, special training and more. Take a look at our opportunities for both students and educators to find out more about what we offer.

Of course, we can’t do our work without partnerships with local businesses. If you’re a business person with a passion for education, we’d love to work with you. Check out our Employer section for ways you can get involved.

11,485 students were directly impacted by career readiness programs and services, excluding MI Career Quest. 1,205 teachers and counselors were directly impacted by our programs and services. 731 business professionals participated in our programs. 142 companies partnered with career readiness.

Is it making an impact? You bet it is.

Whether you are a student or educator engaging with our services or a business partner helping to bring the experiences to life, this work is making a difference. Just take a look at the numbers! Want more evidence? View the 2015-16 Career Readiness annual report

Career Readiness Community Activities Calendar
On the fourth Tuesday of each month, 5 creators will present their ideas for a chance to win $5,000 in grant money - no strings attached There is no restriction on the type of idea a presenter can submit, but it’s important to remember this is about moving an idea forward. The community votes on the ideas that will be presented at the event. The selected presenters explain a $5,000 step that will move the idea forward, and will meet people who can help. Just having an idea is not enough. You are the one pushing it into existence, so be clear about what’s needed for that next $5,000 step. Presenting the ideas is only part of the night. Part two is at the reception to find out the winner. Have a glass of wine, talk about ideas. That part of the evening is the whole reason we put on the event. Please join us. Please RSVP at http://5x5night.com/next.
