Program Description
Phlebotomy is the medical practice of drawing blood from a patient for laboratory testing, transfusions, donations, or research, and it plays a vital role in diagnosing and monitoring health conditions.
Performed by trained professionals called phlebotomists, the process involves identifying the correct vein, using sterile equipment, and following strict safety and hygiene protocols to ensure patient comfort and accurate results.
Beyond technical skill, phlebotomy also requires clear communication and a calm bedside manner, since many patients are anxious about needles or blood draws. (AI)
