Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential

The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE) and is a key stepping stone on the path of career advancement in ECE.  It is based on a core set of competency standards, which guide early care professionals as they work toward becoming qualified teachers of young children. The Council works to ensure that the nationally-transferable CDA is a credible and valid credential, recognized by the profession as a vital part of professional development.

This program is open to all high school juniors and seniors with a passion for working with children who want to get direct experience and college credit in this career field.

Students can:

  • Earn up to 9 Grand Rapids Community College credits

  • Earn a CDA credential, the first step in becoming an assistant teacher in childcare and preschool learning environments

  • Participate in community partnerships on-site with hands-on learning 2-3 days per week

  • Work alongside early childhood professionals in the field

  • Apply for TEACH grant college funding
