The new Michigan Merit Curriculum requires students to earn two credits of the same World Language before graduating high school.

How to earn 1 credit:

  • pass 1 year of world language during high school
  • pass a proficiency test at the Novice-mid level
  • provide transcripts from another country equal to 1 semester of schooling in a language other than English

How to earn 2 credits:

  • pass 2 years of the same world language in high school
  • pass a proficiency test at the Novice-high level
  • provides transcripts from another country equal to 1 year of schooling in a language other than English
