WIA (Workforce Investment Act)
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Services
The WIA program is funded through a grant from Michigan Works! to provide support to students who come from families that are struggling financially and who meet one of several criteria which indicate they are "at risk" for successfully completing high school. The goal of the program is to provide mentoring and services which will lead to graduation, post-secondary training and employment.
Key features of Kent ISD's WIA program are:

*After-school clubs for tutoring & mentoring *Career exploration
*Job shadowing & internships *Work experience
*Information & referral to other WIA service providers & community resources
*Follow-up of completers
