The Baldwin Foundation supports area religious, scientific and literary activities as well as arts and education in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They have provided financial support to the Bright Beginnings Program, a program that teaches parents how to be their child’s first and best teacher.
Kent County Commissioner’s Prevention Initiative

The purpose of the Kent County Prevention Initiative is to impact costly and destructive social and health problems. Providing funding for area services incurs benefits to the community including improved parenting, fewer developmental delays, fewer incidences of abuse and neglect and better health outcomes.
State of Michigan Department of Education’s Great Parents, Great Start Program

Funding is provided through the Michigan Department of Education to help support collaborative community efforts to develop parent involvement and education programs.
Universal Insurance Services, Inc.
Has provided funding to support the First Book Program that gives children the opportunity to read and own their first new books. The primary goal of First Book is to work with existing programs, such as Bright Beginnings, to distribute new books to children who, for economic reasons, have little or no access to books.

Alticor provides financial and other support to organizations that help people live better lives. In particular, they support programs that have a direct, real and lasting impact on the quality of children’s lives and those that help children overcome barriers to success and fulfillment in their lives. They have provided support for the First Book Program and the Let’s Talk Campaign, two early literacy programs that will be run in partnership with Greater Grand Rapids Read From the Start.

The A.L. Mailman Family Foundation focuses on improving the systems and policies that impact very young children and their families. They believe in the importance of enhancing the ability of families and communities to nurture their children. They have provided funds for two pilot Let’s Talk Campaigns. One pilot will be located in St. Paul, Minnesota. The other pilot will be here in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
