Fiber Optic Information

Kent ISD is just beginning a fiber optic wide area network. Our work in bringing this cutting edge, cost-saving technology to member school districts is in collaboration with the Grand Valley Metro Council. Together, with the benefit of a $10 million grant secured with the help of Rep. Vern Ehlers, the Metro Council and Kent County, we are working to link all area school districts to improve internet access, cut voice, video and data costs, and improve collaboration on technology-based administrative functions in our schools.

Ongoing expenditures to maintain the network include $66,777.09 from the General Ed fund, $6,021.00 from the Special Ed fund and $48,939.09 from the Career Technical Ed fund.
