What is the Kent Intermediate School District (KISD) Consortium?
The KISD is a consortium of school districts in Kent County dedicated to th recruitment, selection, employment and professional growth of quality educators. When you submit your application, it will be entered into the KISD database, where it is available for viewing by all districts in the consortium. With the submission of a single application, you are able to apply for vacancies in any of the member districts.
What districts are in the Consortium?
Kent County Schools: Comstock Park, East Grand Rapids, Forest Hills, Godfrey Lee, Godwin Heights, Kelloggsville, Kent City, Lowell, Northview, Rockford, Wyoming
Is there a fee to apply with the Consortium? How long does my application stay on file?
There is no fee to apply to the consortium. Your application will stay active for one year from the original date of the application, or one year from the most recent update.
How do I apply to the Consortium?
Submit your application via the online process. When you submit your online application to the consortium, it is also beneficial to upload supporting documentation, which may include your resume, teaching certificate or other credentials, college transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.
Can I apply to individual district postings?
Yes, you have the opportunity to apply directly to individual district postings. There is a step on the application titled 'vacancy desired'. Selecting this step will allow you to view all of the current vacancies within the consortium districts. By selecting a vacancy, you will electronically link your completed application to the posting. this will alert school administrators as to your interest in the vacancy and more easily allow them to view your application. The application should be completed only once, however you must update your application to select new vacancies as they occur.
Will someone from the KISD Consortium contact me?
You will receive an email confirming successful submission of your application. If you do not receive an email confirmation, it is most likely due to a spam-blocker installed on your computer. The KISD staff will not contact you by phone regarding the status of your application. If you are considered for a position by one of the member districts, then that district will contact you, either via email or by telephone.
How do I revise my application that is already in the system?
You can revise or update your application as often as you wish by logging in to the system and make necessary changes. use the continue/modify my application link found on the Employment section of the website. it is important for your application to be up-to-date at all times. Please be sure your application always includes your correct mailing address, email address and telephone number(s). Equally important are name changes, additional degrees, new employers, etc.
Will I be notified of open positions within the consortium?
As in the past, the consortium will not notify you if there is an open position for which you qualify. It is your responsibility to visit the website frequently to review the current openings. Remember that you must update your application to select each individual vacancy to be considered for that position. for information on open position in consortium districts, please access the online application area.
