KTC Programs
These KTC programs are available to high school juniors and seniors in the Kent Intermediate School District:
Landscape/Horticulture
Landscape/Horticulture provides training in landscaping and the growing and caring for plants and flowers (horticulture). Curriculum includes basic lawn care, floral design, basic greenhouse maintenance, and interiorscapes (indoor plant maintenance.) Training also includes garden bed maintenance, plant propagation, machine safety, and basic soil knowledge.

Facilities Maintenance
The Facilities Maintenance Program will focus on basic facility maintenance and general carpentry with emphasis on interior finishes featuring: basic skills in drywall, painting, tiling, electrical, and plumbing will be the primary areas of study. Special emphasis is placed on developing math related skills, safe work habits and proper use of equipment.

Hospitality
This program provides training in basic food preparation for the food service industry. Instruction in sanitation, proper and safe use of equipment, kitchen maintenance, hot food preparation, salad and sandwich preparation, baker's helper and introduction to food service careers will be taught through the hands on curriculum.

Retail
The Retail program emphasizes competencies and proficiencies needed for employability in retail businesses and is directly linked to specific entry level retail jobs/careers. Class work is delivered with concurrent hands-on experiences.

Transportation
Training is provided in four departments directly relating to four employment areas (Oil Change and Lube Service; Basic Auto Maintenance and Minor Repair; Tire service; and Clean-up, Detailing and Body/Interior Prep). Instruction also includes shop safety; hand and power tool use; use of hoists, jacks, and stands; and use of repair manuals. Teamwork, leadership, problem solving, and employability skills are all integrated into this program.

Worksite Based Learning (WBL) - Unpaid
Offers students the opportunity to experience the world of work in a variety of business settings. WBL is designed to provide students with additional training in their vocational interest areas. The students will be supported by on-site KTC job skill trainers under the direction of WBL Coordinators. This experience is for school credit rather than for pay.

The Worksite Based Learning program is available to students who have been involved in vocational training at the Transition Center and have demonstrated employment readiness for competitive employment.
