Services for the visually impaired
We offer training and support for educators, including consultants to address a student's needs, a lending library of hardware, software and other tools, and a network of resources in all areas of resources for students with visual impairments.
Mission
It is the mission of the Kent ISD Visually Impaired staff to expand the knowledge and use of adaptive instruction and assistive technology (AT) within the local districts so all students can learn in a manner which best meets their needs and abilities. Our purpose is to collaborate on teaching and learning, build district capacity and local staff skills, and address students' needs in a timely and cost effective manner.
Who We Are
A team including six Teacher Consultants for the Visually Impaired, four Orientation & Mobility Specialists and a Media Specialist from Kent ISD who work with instructional teams from all local area districts.
Who We Serve
Special Education students with visual impairments in local districts throughout Kent ISD, who require adaptive instructional methods and materials to achieve their educational goals.
