Project NorthStar

Everyone has dreams, what are yours?  What would you like to do next in life?  We want to help you get there.

Funded through a grant from Michigan Works!, the coaches in Project NorthStar can help guide you through the obstacles in your way so you can:
   - Finish high school or earn a GED (General Education Development)
   - Get a job
   - Start college

What are your strengths, skills, abilities, interests?

Tell us!  We'll listen.  Then, we'll help you figure out how to achieve your goal.  We'll walk right along side you every step of the way.  We can:
   - Help you set goals and create a realistic plan to meet them
   - Help you write a resume, find job shadows and internships
   - Find job training and a job
   - Help with college visits, applications and the process of starting college

Need help finishing school or getting a job?

We want to help!  We work with young people ages 16-24 who have something standing in the way of completing an education or getting a job.  Whether you're dealing with lost credits, homelessness, pregnancy or another life challenge, we have ways to help.

Career Readiness Community Activities Calendar
On the fourth Tuesday of each month, 5 creators will present their ideas for a chance to win $5,000 in grant money - no strings attached There is no restriction on the type of idea a presenter can submit, but it’s important to remember this is about moving an idea forward. The community votes on the ideas that will be presented at the event. The selected presenters explain a $5,000 step that will move the idea forward, and will meet people who can help. Just having an idea is not enough. You are the one pushing it into existence, so be clear about what’s needed for that next $5,000 step. Presenting the ideas is only part of the night. Part two is at the reception to find out the winner. Have a glass of wine, talk about ideas. That part of the evening is the whole reason we put on the event. Please join us. Please RSVP at http://5x5night.com/next.

Connect. Explore. Achieve. This two-day, interactive experience will give you the opportunity to explore how area businesses use your content areas in industry. Draw connections between what you've seen and how you can teach your standards. Develop relevant, real world lessons you can use with your students to help them achieve success. Use group dynamics with like-minded teachers to build engaging content tied to the world of work. Come see what other districts are doing in STEM and imagine what the future can hold for your students. A portion of each event will involve a trip to a local business to observe and glean inspiration from current business practices. Two meetings are planned for the 17-18 SY with dates to be announced. Outcomes will include: Educators will discover resources that can be used in their classroom(s) Educators are part of a support system that encourages use of discovered resources Educators consistently connect their classroom content to the world of work; answering the question, "When am I ever going to use this?"
