Plymouth Christian High Student Art on Display

Traditional, two-dimensional art from Plymouth Christian High School artists is now on view at Kent ISD. Graphite, charcoal and scratchboard etched art can be viewed in the lobby at 2930 Knapp NE during business hours now through April 6.

The student artists in grades 9 through 12, taught by Plymouth Christian High School art teacher Lisa Wierenga, focused on developing their drawing skills this year.

"Drawing skills are the foundation of so many other art mediums. It's exciting to watch the students develop and grow these abilities and awareness of their talents," says Wierenga. The students will use these foundational skills as they progress to self portraits and colored pencil art this spring.

The Plymouth Christian High School art display is one of a series during the year from schools within Kent ISD. Other districts with lobby displays include Kentwood, Byron Center and Byron Center and Dutton Christian Schools. East Grand Rapids student work will be on display in April followed by Caledonia in May.

Kent ISD also participates in annual Congressional Arts Competition, serving as local judges and occasionally offering purchase awards to student winners.
