Kent ISD Expands to Serve Customers
Expanding to Serve Our Customers
In effort to better serve educators, Kent ISD's Educational Service Center (ESC) is undergoing a significant expansion including new conference rooms and a cafe.
On hold for quite some time due to budget constraints, the project became a reality as construction on the 7,250 square foot addition began in the winter of 2008. The expansion includes four new conference rooms, an office suite for the Curriculum Crafter Tool program, restrooms and a health room. It also houses a small cafe to serve as a lunch area and break out space for conference attendees and an informal meeting space for staff.
"Kent ISD is striving to meet the needs of our districts and improve student achievement, in part through professional development opportunities, "says Kent ISD Superintendent, Kevin Konarska. "We expect the additional conference rooms will allow us to offer more of these key programs, along with the collaboration work of many ISD-wide groups."
Staff was invited to name the new conference rooms, continuing the established theme of bodies of water in Kent ISD. The new rooms are dubbed the Cedar, the Bostwick, the Tamarack and the Algonquin Cafe.
The project is expected to be completed at the end of September.
