KCTC Student Wins National Scholarship

GRAND RAPIDS – Kent Career Tech Center (KCTC) student in the Cosmetology Program, Paige Milke, won the National Coalition of Estheticians Association (NCEA) Esthetician Scholarship. The NCEA gives one nationwide scholarship every quarter to a student studying esthetics who demonstrates outstanding academics and attendance.

Milke, a senior from Rogers High School, Wyoming Public schools, is a straight “A” student with perfect attendance in the program. She receives a $1000 scholarship and will be featured in the NCEA newsletter with her picture and a biography. “I am so proud one of our students won this national award,” Laureen Gillis, KCTC Cosmetology teacher said. “I just want to shout it out from the top of the world.”

More than 70 applicants entered this year’s competition, which exists “simply to promote the industry,” said Susanne Warfield, Executive Director, NCEA.  This incentive scholarship is awarded to one student who exhibits good school performance and is pursuing a career as an esthetician, which means a person skilled in skin care and treatments.

Milke will take her State board exam soon and continue her studies.
