KCTC Agriscience Students Win Big at Nationals
Four Agriscience students brought home medals from the 2010 National FFA Nursery and Landscape Skills Contest, October 20-22, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The students took first place at the state level competition in April earning them the chance to compete at Nationals.
The students began preparing for the competition in June and their hard work paid off. Lance West, from Sparta High School, won an individual silver medal, while Cory Jolliffe, from Grandville High School, Tamra Capps, from Forest Hills Northern, and Anna Patton, from Thornapple Kellogg High School, each won individual bronze medals. The group also won a team bronze medal. Their national wins qualify them for some great scholarships.
Student from 38 states competed in the competition as teams and individuals. Testing challenges included landscape related problem solving, professional business letter writing, sales techniques, plant identification, pest/disease identification and landscape design.
Congratulations to these outstanding students!
