East Kentwood Student Art on Display at Kent ISD
Traditional art from East Kentwood High School and East Kentwood Freshman Campus artists is now on view at Kent ISD. Graphite drawings, pastels and watercolor art can be viewed in the lobby at 2930 Knapp NE during business hours now through November 15.
The student artists in grades 9 through 12, taught by East Kentwood High School art teachers Adrienne DeMilner, Le Tran, and Esther Cryderman have studied portraits and landscapes. These teachers gives students a solid foundation for their art education and experience. “One of our goals is to prepare students for college level art courses,” says Tran. “We really focus on giving the students diverse and in-depth lessons.” That includes a traditional approach to learning and making art such as oil painting, graphic design, airbrushing, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry.
The East Kentwood High School art display is one of a series during the year from schools within Kent ISD. Byron Center West Middle School will have the next display in November.
Kent ISD also participates in annual Congressional Arts Competition, serving as local judges and occasionally offering purchase awards to student winners.
