Byron Center Student Art on Display at Kent ISD

GRAND RAPIDS – Art from Byron Center West Middle School students in 7th and 8th grade is on display in the Kent ISD lobby at 2930 Knapp NE from now through the end of October during business hours.  Types of artwork include paintings, drawings, pastels and collages.

Janine Campbell teaches her students to include all aspects of life in their art.  They use math, language arts, social studies and science skills in their artwork.  “Art is like making magic seem real,” Campbell said.  “There are many tricks to use as tools and I hope to show my students all of them.”

They Byron Center art display is one of a series during the year from schools within Kent ISD.  Other districts with lobby displays this year include the River Valley Academy of Rockford, Thornapple Kellogg High School and East Grand Rapids High School.  Kent ISD also participates in Representative Vern Ehlers’ annual Congressional Arts Competition, serving as local judges and occasionally offering purchase awards to student winners.
