Byron Center and Dutton Christian Display Artwork
Art from Byron Center Christian School and Dutton Christian School is on display at Kent ISD. The artwork exhibited includes drawings, painting, and printmaking and can be viewed in the lobby at 2930 Knapp NE, during business hours now through March 4.
The student artists are in grades K-8 and are taught by art instructor Jennifer Bergsma. Throughout the year, the students study projects that teach art history, design elements and principles and help students develop skills and experience using a variety of techniques and materials. Bergsma helps her students learn to create. “I believe that the ability to create is a gift given to us by God and the purpose of our artwork is to praise God,” she says.

Byron Center Christian School’s and Dutton Christian School’s art display is one of a series during the year from schools within Kent ISD. Plymouth Christian will have the next display in March followed by East Grand Rapids in April.
Kent ISD also participates in the annual Congressional Arts Competition, serving as local judges and occasionally offering purchase awards to student winners.
